INDEX / LAB / CHANGELOG

Every release, written as a receipt.

A receipt lists what you bought, what you paid, and what went wrong with the order. Ours lists what shipped, what was fixed, what we missed, and who contributed, by name, including the contributions that lost the argument. The accompanying lab note explains why the format matters.

3.2.0 2026-10-08 HELIOS-8 / ARRAY-16 / TESSERA
  • ARRAY-16: the skip engine now follows the musical beat instead of the sample clock. Shipped definition follows the master clock's downbeat; four alternate definitions are selectable, documented, and named after the community members who argued for them. Patch by K. Iwasaki, eleven months in review. Full story in the lab note.
  • HELIOS-8: calibration table now exports CSV with per-voice deltas, not just the summary row. Requested by three service customers in writing, which is the correct way to file a feature request.
  • TESSERA: scrub crossfield now accepts envelope input on both axes simultaneously. Previously the Y axis ignored CV when the X axis carried an envelope, which the documentation described as "a limitation" and everyone else described as a bug.
  • Housekeeping: 212 measurement points added to the rig log format, so batch sheets from here forward carry the jack cycle verification count by default.
  • Receipt: 4 features, 2 fixes, 2 bounty payouts (P. Almeida, S. Novak, both confirmed timing bugs), 0 misses this cycle. The previous cycle's miss is listed in 3.1.2 below and stays listed.
3.1.2 2026-09-02 FLUX CORE
  • Miss, disclosed: four units in batch 2026-07 shipped with an undocumented default in the feedback routing matrix. We found it ourselves during a sample audit, and the entry exists because the correction path matters more than the silence would have.
  • Fixed: the default now matches the documentation. Affected units were corrected at the bench free of charge, serials 07-0231 through 07-0234, owners notified directly.
  • Receipt: 1 miss found internally, 1 correction, 0 field reports. We would rather publish this paragraph than explain a forum thread later.
3.1.0 2026-09-02 TESSERA / MERIDIAN
  • TESSERA: exFAT support for microSD cards above 32 GB. FAT32 remains the tested default; exFAT is supported from this release and documented with its one known caveat (cards formatted on Windows write cluster sizes we handle but do not love).
  • MERIDIAN: phase-sync now latches on the rising edge of the master clock instead of the first CV slope it sees, which makes multi-MERIDIAN racks phase-locked instead of merely synchronized.
  • Receipt: 2 features, 1 community patch credited (M. Osei, latching logic), 1 documentation rewrite of the clock chapter, which was overdue.
3.0.2 2026-07-19 HELIOS-8
  • Fixed: envelope retrigger on overlapping gates could double-fire when the second gate arrived within 1.2 ms of the first. Found by K. Iwasaki, confirmed on the bench in nine minutes, paid at the top tier.
  • Fixed: calibration table CSV export wrote the header twice when the export ran during a measurement. Cosmetic, embarrassing, fixed.
  • Receipt: 2 fixes, 1 bounty paid, 0 features. A patch release that stays a patch release is how version numbers keep their meaning.
3.0.1 2026-07-03 HELIOS-8
  • Fixed: polyphony counter undercounted by one when voice 8 was muted during a voice-steal event. Found in production QC at step 79, which is where humans catch the things rigs do not think to look for.
  • Receipt: 1 fix, 0 features. Shipped eleven days after 3.0.0 because the counter bug was found in-house and the fix was two lines with a test.
3.0.0 2026-06-22 HELIOS-8 / FIRMWARE CORE
  • New: the 3.x family. Calibration data moved from a sidecar file into the module's own storage, which means a module carries its certificate numbers on board and the service bench can read them without a laptop.
  • New: drift modes restructured into locked, gentle, and full, with the boundaries documented in the technology chapter instead of discovered by experiment.
  • Breaking: sidecar calibration files are no longer read. The migration ran automatically on first boot and the receipt for every migrated unit is in the boot log, which you can read from the panel.
  • Receipt: 2 features, 1 documented breaking change with a migration, 0 misses. Version 3.0.0 earned its number.
2.4.1 2026-09-19 PHANTOM GRID / OBSIDIAN MIX
  • PHANTOM GRID: swing range widened to 50 to 75 percent. The documentation now prints the division ratios for every output, which the previous sheet implied and never showed.
  • OBSIDIAN MIX: drive stage calibration tightened to match the printed knee within 0.5 dB on every channel, measured per unit.
  • Both modules: power-on self test now checks bus communication and reports the fault class on the LED, instead of a single error blink that meant everything and nothing.
  • Receipt: 2 improvements, 1 fix carried from the field (OBSIDIAN MIX ch 4 drive offset, batch 2026-04, 22 units, corrected at the bench free of charge), 3 bounty reports reviewed: 1 accepted, 2 declined as duplicates of issues already fixed but not yet released. The declined reporters were thanked in writing and their next batches held.
2.4.0 2026-05-28 KILN / FLUX CORE
  • KILN: the warm-up indicator now reads the actual measured knee instead of a timer. The difference is between "the module has been on for ten minutes" and "the module is ready," and only one of those sentences is true.
  • FLUX CORE: feedback damping curve softened at the top of the range, so maximum feedback is usable instead of a dare.
  • Receipt: 2 features, 1 measurement standard added (the printed knee on every KILN batch sheet from here forward), 0 fixes needed.
The full repository history, including every intermediate commit and every argument that lost, backs this ledger. If a receipt and the history ever disagree, the history wins and this page gets a correction the same day.
