INDEX / DOCS
The first hour, and the next five years.
Documentation for OSCILLA modules lives in three places: this page for the first hour, the hardware files for every answer with a schematic in it, and the repository history for everything else. Nothing here is gated behind an account.
- Unbox the module, the ribbon cable, the washers, and the certificate. Read the certificate. It is one page and it is the honest summary of your specific unit.
- Power the rack down. Never install or remove a module with the rack powered; the jacks can survive it but the moral of the story is that you should not test that.
- Mount the module with both washers. A single-screw module is a lever and the panel is the fulcrum.
- Connect the ribbon with the red stripe to the marked pin, on both ends. Both OSCILLA headers are keyed, and force is how keys stop working.
- Power on and wait ninety seconds before judging tuning. Thermal settle is not a myth; the thermal note in the lab explains the curve.
- Patch output to your mixer or interface. Play something. The manual can wait; the instrument cannot.
- First patch, HELIOS-8
- Out L to your mixer. Push PLAY on nothing; just touch a key. Then read the panel left to right, which is the order the signal flows
- First patch, TESSERA
- Load the two factory recordings from microSD, scrub with your finger on the crossfield, then patch PHANTOM GRID to the scrub inputs
- First patch, KILN
- Any source in, warm it up, then find the knee by ear against the number on your batch sheet
- First patch, ARRAY-16
- Program four gates, add probability to one, and let the skip engine show you why it took eleven months
Most support emails begin with power, and both of the common failures are preventable in ten seconds. The red stripe goes to the pin marked with a white square, on both the module and the bus board. If your case's header is unmarked, write to us with a photo of the header and we will tell you which side is which; guessing with a new module is how a five-year warranty starts with a bad morning.
The second failure is budgeting. Size your supply for the peak draw printed on each certificate, not the average, and remember that a HELIOS-8 on startup draws briefly above its steady state while the shaper bias settles. A supply with 20% headroom over your sum is not a luxury; it is the difference between a stable rack and a rack that hums when the freezer opens.
