INDEX / SUPPORT

Support, without a ticket queue.

Support is a bench, not a department. Messages are answered by R. Tanaka in the order they arrive, usually within one business day, always within three. Warranty repairs are performed by the same people who built the module. This page holds everything you can solve yourself: firmware, manuals, schematics, and the questions we hear most.

01 Firmware

Current releases.

One firmware family across the catalog, versioned together, updated over USB-C with no account and no internet connection required. Every release note is published in full in the changelog.

Community builds are supported on every module. Enable signed community firmware in the settings menu; the signature chain is documented in the firmware repository and the verification key ships in the box.
02 Documentation

Every manual. Every schematic. No gate.

Manuals are PDF, schematics are PDF and KiCad source, certificates are PDF and CSV. Nothing on this list requires registration, an account, or a reason.

THE SERVICE PROMISE

Board-level service manuals mean what they say: component values, test points, expected waveforms at each test point, and the two measurements that tell you which subsystem is lying. A competent technician with an oscilloscope can service any OSCILLA module without contacting us, and we consider that a design requirement rather than a courtesy.

03 FAQ

The questions we actually hear.

Everything except deliberate abuse: any defect in materials or workmanship, including jacks that fail inside the cycle rating, panels that corrode, and drift that exceeds the printed tolerance. Transferable with the serial number, no registration required. Consumables are limited to nothing, because we do not consider anything in the module a consumable. Full terms on the warranty page.
No. It arrives calibrated, with a certificate showing the measurements for your specific serial. Units may be re-calibrated at either studio for free, forever, and the procedure is published in the manual if you would rather do it yourself: it takes a multimeter, two patch cables, and ninety seconds per voice bank.
Because it is designed to be. The drive stage holds its transistor at 58 degrees so the saturation curve lands in its specified operating band. The warm-up LED turns steady when the stage is in spec, about four minutes from power on. Before that, the module works but is not yet itself. The full story is in the thermal drive lab note.
Inside the printed 0.02% tolerance, drift is the instrument working as specified, and the certificate in your box is the boundary between drift and defect. Outside the tolerance, it is a warranty repair. The three firmware modes (locked, gentle, wide) set how much of the specified band the voices use. The reasoning is in the drift lab note.
Signed community builds run alongside factory firmware and can be reverted over USB in under a minute. The signature chain is open and the verification key ships in the box. Unsigned builds require a physical jumper inside the module, which is our entire security model and we like it that way. Community features we merge get their author credited in the changelog.
Friday sessions at both studios, two hours each, one module of your choice on the bench with headphones or the room monitors. Book through the contact page. If you cannot reach either city, the batch certificate plus the schematics are the next best thing, and several dealers keep demo racks.
Through the dealer network on the dealers page. We sell direct as well, from either studio, at identical prices. Dealers get identical margins from us regardless of volume, which keeps the network small, honest, and weirdly loyal.
Yes, every part in every module, from knobs to boards to the full panel, at cost plus shipping. The parts lists are in the service manuals. If a part is discontinued upstream, we publish the equivalent substitute and the rework note in the changelog.
No, and we say that with respect. The catalog stays small because the support promise depends on it. What we will do is review your schematic at the bench and tell you where it will fail QC, which several community builders have used to ship their own modules under their own name.
Batches run in groups of 120 and calibration happens per batch, so inventory arrives in waves rather than continuously. Requesting access puts you in the queue for the next wave; we confirm the slot within two business days and charge nothing until the unit ships. The queue is visible: the current build slot count is on the contact page and updates when a batch closes.
04 Warranty

Five years. Transferable. No registration.

Every OSCILLA instrument carries a five-year warranty on materials and workmanship, transferable with the serial number, effective from first retail sale regardless of registration. Service happens at the studio that built your batch, using the same bench and the same measurement rig it was born on.

The full terms are written in plain language on the warranty page, including what is not covered, and there are only three exclusions because that is genuinely the whole list.

If none of that finds it, write to the bench address with your serial and what you have tried. The reply either fixes it or opens a service case, and both outcomes come from the person who reads your email, not a ticket queue.

03 Installing firmware
  1. Power the rack down and remove the module to a table. Firmware updates want a calm environment and so do you.
  2. Connect USB-C from your computer. The module enumerates as a mass-storage device; no driver, no app, no account.
  3. Copy the .fw file for your module and batch from the repository releases onto the device.
  4. Eject cleanly, power the module via the rack, and hold the panel button for three seconds. The install takes about forty seconds.
  5. The boot screen shows the new version and a receipt summary of what changed. If it shows an error class instead, the support page's last-row trick (hold the button while applying power) recovers the bootloader.
  6. Your calibration data survives updates. If the boot log ever says otherwise, stop and write to the bench before playing another note.
